My name is Kat Mundy. My journey through yoga thus far has been amazing. It has dramatically changed my life for the better. Once I began my journey I new that I needed to know more. I then decided to enrol in teacher training which was an amazing experience. My wonderful and amazingly knowledgeable and experienced teacher Shasta Townsend from Balanced Life Yoga, taught me the tools necessary to become a teacher myself. I then decided to open my own business Sweet Emotion Yoga and Wellness so that I can as well share the teachings that I have learned with others. I have always loved tattoos and to date I now have 12. My tattoo artist James Strongarm from “King Tatt” in Sutton Ontario did an outstanding  job on  my latest  tattoo the Seven Chakras. It was an amazing experience getting them done which took a very long time, there is a lot of detail in each individual Chakra. I wanted very much to begin a sleeve on my arm, but needed to make sure what I was putting on my body would always be important to me. Getting a tattoo is a serious thing, its on your body for life. I wanted to be able to always look at it and smile. And I do. I decided to go with the Seven Chakras because they are part of me. They bring me strength. Meditating on the Chakras as well as giving myself, Reiki self treatments, has helped reduce some of the blockages that I have been carrying. The beautiful colors and individuality of each chakra make for a beautiful tattoo. The best part about it is that  people always come up to me and ask me what they are and I get to share the meaning of them with them. That is my passion, sharing the teachings of yoga, so that others can also gain the many benefits of the practice.

Many Blessings

Tattoo Story {Spiritual Name: Prabha}

Hi:
Here is the story behind the art work.

Starting from the top - the orange writing is my spiritual name, Prabha,andrea_tattoo written in Sanskrit. When I got my yoga teacher certification my teacher
gave me the spiritual name which means morning light. I wanted to keep that name with me always so I added it to the tattoo. The 3 dragonflies signify beginning, middle and end; beginning of a two year change, middle of that change and end - that cycle has just kept going for me. They also signify body, breath and sole. The OM in the middle signifies how long I’ve been practicing yoga - it looks old and I’ve been practicing for 15 years now. The colours are very significant. The blue dragon fly at the top is for my older son, who is always above the crowd - with his name Maverick - he definitely lives up to everything we have hoped for him and then some. The red dragon fly is different for my other son. He was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome so he fly’s to his beat. He is wonderful but he is also different. The green dragon fly is for me. I’m on the bottom looking up to support my boys. The purple in the background represents my spirituality. It has come in handy over the years that I’m a spiritual person.

I hope you enjoy the story along with the picture.

Tattoo Engagement Ring

These tattoos are what my husband & I chose to do instead of an engagement ring.  It means more to us than a piece of metal & a stone ever would…not that I don’t love jewellery!kelly_tattoo

Tattoo Story {calm, peace and strength}

Hello,
Thank you for celebrating the ancient art of tattooing!
I have always been intrigued by tattoos and toyed with the idea of getting one for many years, but never had the visceral pull that I was looking for in my gut to go ahead until one annelisa_tattooday in Dec 2007. I was at the beginning of a separation from a 14 year relationship and I need to find strength and to remember who I was.
My yoga practice and its symbols danced in my mind. I needed something that would permanently remind me to live in the moment, feel renewed and reborn. I chose a simple combination of a water lily, to remember my struggles and to strive for enlightenment and the om sign to represent  peace and a higher power.
I look at my tattoo daily and feel an instance calm, peace and strength.

Tattoo Story {beauty is all around us}

Beauty……I grew up believing it was only something you could see.  Something that perhaps was not always present and that was sometimes only visible to the human eye.diana_tattoo

Maybe something that I didn’t have????? Yoga has taught me many things, but most importantly that beauty is all around us, on the inside as well perhaps as on the outside.

It may not always be tangible or visible , but sometimes just a feeling you get when your are in your perfect trikonasana - the beauty you feel is so amazing it brings tears to your eyes.  My tattoo is a constant reminder of the beauty that is all around me, every moment, every breath and most importantly that true beauty lies within the heart.

We then are all equal and all beautiful!

Tattoo Story {om symbol & throat chakra}

My name is Dina and I have an Om tattoo story, I would like to share. It was a few years in the making as my yoga practice has grown. Once I made the choice to pursue dina_tattooteacher training I felt I needed to wear my passion. The Om symbol style is a combination of Thai and Hindu Om. Yoga (and meditation) is to me a true form of divine healing that we all carry within us. I have dedicated to it completely and want to share yoga with everyone I come into contact with. The blue swirling behind the Om represents the color of the throat chakra. I’ve had a thyroid condition since I was a kid and have found that setting intention on my throat chakra has helped with balancing that condition. I’ve even had people tell me that my tattoo has been a focal point during our asana practice! That makes me happy.
namaste.
